Sweet Beer Bread

This recipe came from Southern Living in 2003 and is the easiest and best bread you will ever make! Only 4 ingredients and you can add cheese and chopped jalapenos for a spicy bread.  If you are having company and want to impress them with a warm loaf of bread then this is the recipe for you.  And it will make your house smell divine! This bread is especially good heated in the microwave and topped with jam or honey.

Sweet Beer Bread

3 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 (12-ounce) bottle of beer - any kind will do
1/4 cup butter or margarine melted

Stir together first 3 ingredients; pour into a lightly greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.

Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.  Pour melted butter over top.  Bake 10 more minutes

Jalapeno Beer Bread - add 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese and 2 tablespoons chopped pickled jalapenos  to dry ingredients.  Proceed as directed

Cheddar-Chive Beer Bread - add 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese and 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives to dry ingredients.  Proceed as directed

This is the original page that I tore out of the magazine and stapled in my  recipe book.
Don't look too closely at all the sticky fingerprints on it.  I am not a neat cook!
