We have just a little over 3 months now until Halloween and since Leigh is home this year we have decided to have our first ever adult Halloween party! I started having Halloween parties for Leigh and her friends when she was in first grade and every year after that all the way through Junior High.
Needless to say, I'm kind of excited about having an excuse to continue the tradition and go all out for Halloween this year! I thought I would share some pictures of our decorations over the last couple of years and then I'll show you the pins that I'm thinking about for this year.
Here's some pictures of our decorations -
These are my Ghost Kiddies and are super easy to make with dowels, toddler jeans & socks, styrofoam balls and white fabric (I used a cheap sheet from Walmart) black fabric scraps and ribbon.
Martha Stewart Witch Cling above the entry way -
Tablescape on my Singer sewing machine -
Martha Stewart Mice on the stairs -
Halloween Banner (definitely have to do better with the mantel this year!)
Jim Shore Witch - a birthday gift from the Hubby
Plant Shelf above the TV niche - look close and you will be able to see that I left the plastic on the mini hay bales. You can't really see it from down stairs and I've been using these for 4 years now! Yes, it is true, I'm El Cheapo!
And the Halloween Bear (made by Brenda wearing
Leigh's first Halloween costume and sitting in Tim's baby rocking chair!)
This is a wreath that I made last year for Leigh (see it under our Crafts tab).
Ok, so I haven't quite hit overboard yet, but as you can tell it is
one of my favorite times of year to decorate!
My Halloween Pinterest Picks!!!
I'm going to make a whole basket of these thanks to Skip to My Lou - she even provides a downloadable template for the bat pattern.
Noreen Doll at Craftlinky has the perfect thing for my mantel - A Halloween Topiary made out of a tin can, spray paint, styrofoam ball, wood dowel, newspaper, a bit of ribbon and plastic spiders! I can see at least 2 on the mantel this year.
Thrifty Decor Chick has a great idea for my entry way mirror -
And I'm absolutely torn on this one - which one should I
pick for the powder room?
Freddy Krueger?
Or this cute little Monster?
And I absolutely have to have this adorable little owl for front porch!
I think I will make these with a thank you tag on them for everyone
that attends - design courtesy of Christy Robbins
And to take care of all the Sparkly Vampires we will have to have this -
I can't find the original post of this but I'm thinking I might be able to make the sign out of foam board and use contractor stakes for the bottom part?
I'm thinking that the bat cave cutouts by Martha Stewart would look great in the dining room -
And I will use these candles by BH&G as a centerpiece
on the dining room table -
Surrounded by lots of spider candles by Good Housekeeping-
There are just so many cool Halloween ideas on Pinterest!
Check out my entire Pinterest Halloween Idea board here.
So am I crazy to be thinking about this now? Hobby Lobby has already started loading up the store with Fall items, so I don't think I'm too crazy? Am I?
Do you have any great ideas for Halloween? I'd love to hear about them and leave a link so that I can check them out - 'cause I'm a PINNING FOOL!
Happy Halloween!

I love what you have done in the past and all you ideas for this year. I think the mice on the staircase is the best. I wish I had a staircase at my house. Thank you for adding this to the Our Favorite Things Link Party.
ReplyDeleteI love my staircase and think that this year I will make some a banner to hang from the handrails. I think I'm going to try stenciling on burlap. I've been dying to use burlap in a craft and I think that would go really well there. Halloween is most definitely one of My Favorite Things!
DeleteHow fun! It's so great that you and yoru daughter have a blog together.

We have had a blast putting it together and have learned so much! Thanks for dropping us a line!
DeleteAll of your decorations are so creative and cute!! I love the little ghosts & I may have to copy this idea. And I love the banner! ;) Great ideas! I'm wanting to have a Halloween party this year & just started browsing Pinterest for ideas ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily! The little ghost kids have held up well for the past 7 or 8 years. I got size 2 and 3 toddler jeans from the resale shop and toddler Halloween socks. Just thread 2 dowels into the jeans and down into the ground, stick the dowels into the styrofoam balls (I want to say they were 10" balls), then stuff plastic grocery sacks into the jeans to fill them out. I also used yarn to tie the jeans onto the dowel so they wouldn't slip down. Stuff the socks and tie them to the dowel underneath the pant leg. Then top with a square of white fabric, hot glue on the eyes and add the candy bucket and bow. I also used straight pins to hold the fabric on to the balls. I'll probably drag them out soon and put together a complete tutorial on them. Like I said, I've had them for 7 or 8 years and just was the jeans and socks and put them away for the next year.
DeleteThanks for stopping by and let me know what you have planned for your party. Pinterest is the bomb for finding ideas!
Thank you for following my blog! I am here to follow you back and I am so glad I did! We must think alike, as I have found myself thinking of Halloween over the weekend as well! Loving all of these ideas especially the cute little monster peeking from the toilet!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kimberly. I just realized that if Halloween is only 3 months away that Christmas isn't far behind!!!! Trying not to panic! Time to start the Christmas list!
DeleteLove the Pumpkin owl! <3
ReplyDeleteI know = isn't it adorable? And the best thing is that since it isn't carved it should last a long time. I think I could make a couple of them in different sizes.
DeleteI think the little rat silhouettes on the staircase are very cute. I love Halloween.
ReplyDeleteThanks Erin! They are really cute and I've been using and reusing them for over 3 years now.

ReplyDeleteHmmmmm i'm getting into a halloweeny mood now !
ReplyDeleteIt will be here before we know it! And then, Horror of Horrors, Christmas can't be far behind!
DeleteLooks like a bunch of great ideas! I'd be afraid to sit on that toilet though LOL.
ReplyDeleteI know, the vote is for the cute little monster and not Jason or whoever he is!
DeleteThe freddy toilet cracks me up. I am sure that none of my kids would use it-at least not /w the door closed:)
ReplyDeleteYou can tell I don't watch scary movies because I called him Jason or whoever!! LOL!!! The last scary movie I went to see was The Fog with Adrienne Barbeaux back in the 80's - I got so scared I walked out in the first 30 minutes. And my Husband, being the smart guy he is - didn't say a word or even laugh at me! Guess that's why we are still married after all these years!!!
DeleteYep, definitely the cute little monster peeking out for the toilet!!!
Thanks for sharing all these ideas. I'm so glad you linked up at Romance on a dime's TIOT party!!
ReplyDeleteVery cool picks!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with my Super Link Party! :-)
Oh my word, so cute! I love the ghost on the mirror and the potty monster if you go with cutsy, but if you're going with scary...Freddy's the way to go. Although I think I'd rather hold it than sit on a Freddy toilet! Lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing at our Pinteresting Party
.
These are all such sweet ideas! My kids just LOVE Halloween and we can't wait to decorate! Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing with the Pink Hippo Party!
