Ta Da!
I have to say that this stain is amazingly easy to work with and completely transforms your furniture. I applied 3 coats with foam brushes and 1 coat of the poly, also with a foam brush. The directions on both blogs called for multiple coats of poly, but since this won't be in a wet or high use area, we thought (ok, we hope!) that 1 coat would be enough. Only time will tell.
We ordered both the stain and poly on Amazon -
I'm staining our bedroom furniture with this same stain and hope to have it completed next weekend. I'm trying to take my time and let it dry completely, but I'm really tired of all my clothes being in grocery sacks on the bedroom floor!!!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend with lots of fun projects in your future!
We're on the Fence! Won't you take a minute and vote for us?
It turned out great!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lena - the best thing about it is that it was so easy to do!

Shelf unit looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks Krystie! Leigh loves it. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteThe other day I stopped at a Goodwill and was eyeballing a small dresser. It was well made with dovetailed joints and I was really tempted, but ended up walking away. It was $60 and being the cheapskate that I am I feel I can do better. So what does this have to do with anything? Well, it was solid wood but in pretty bad shape. I thought I might stain it rather than paint it, but didn't think any stain would give good enough coverage. I'm not so sure about that after seeing your post, so I will keep this in mind for the future most definitely!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and I'm glad I put a smile on your face. Chuckie is glad too ;).
This was a very easy project and I would highly recommend this stain. Girl, you made me laugh with that Chuckie post!!! Too Funny!!
DeleteWow! That's quite a difference! I have never used wood stain, but if it can bring out the richness in a piece like that, I'm all for it! What a great transformation!
ReplyDeleteIt has great coverage and really turned out nice! Thanks for stopping by! Come back soon!

DeleteThat turned out awesome. I have several pieces in my daughters old room that need to be exactly that color. I guess I need to put on the big girl panties and see what happens and try the gel stain. So did you lightly sand before applying? or sand between coats of stain?
ReplyDeleteI just lightly sanded before staining. I have to say that I LOVE this stain. I'll be posting picture of my bedroom furniture this weekend that I stained and it just looks fantastic. Let me know how yours turns out.

DeleteMy hubby's desk and credenza are made of that same style wood as your bookcase and I would love to try the gel stain. How much stain did it take for you to do your bedroom furniture and the bookcase? Trying to determine if I'll need more than one quart. Thanks for the info!

ReplyDeleteCarolyn - believe it or not, one quart did all of that furniture with some left over. It goes a very long way. I would just order one quart of the stain and one of the top coat. I can't imagine that your hubby's desk and credenza could take more than it took for our bookshelf, dresser and 2 nightstands. Let us know how it turns out. I would love to see a picture of it! Have a great weekend!
DeleteThanks so much for your reply! I just ordered the stain and polyacrylic and can't wait to get started! It may take me a while to finish but will let you know how they turn out. Appreciate the info and the inspiration!
